ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland University athletics department hosted its annual Graduates and Champions banquet on Thursday inside the Athletics Center O'rena. The Golden Grizzlies announced this season's award winners, along with recognizing all the seniors for 2012-13.
Alanna Gerber (women's golf) and Johnny Dreshaj (men's soccer) were named as the 2013 Hollie L. Lepley Scholar-Athlete Award winners. The most prestigious award handed out by the athletics department, these two student-athletes accomplished the highest academic, athletic and community service achievements.
The men's soccer team captured the Spirit Award, given to the team that supported their fellow student-athletes the most during the year. Women's Golf and Dance teams were given the Best Video Award.
The Golden Grizzlies were second in The Summit League Commissioner's Cup standings after fall and winter competition. OU trailed South Dakota State by one point heading into spring competition.
