Box Score 2 COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Oakland (1-13, 0-0 HL) fell to No. 22 Texas A&M (13-1, 0-0 SEC) in both ends of a Friday doubleheader at Blue Bell Park. In the opener, the Golden Grizzlies dropped a 6-3 decision despite a strong second inning where Oakland scored all three of its runs, highlighted by a home run. Texas A&M responded with three runs in the third inning, added two more in the fifth, and sealed the game with another run in the sixth. In the second game, Oakland fell 10-2 as sophomore
Sam Patton provided the offensive highlight with a solo home run in the fourth inning. The Aggies took early control, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second to secure the victory.
GAME ONE:
Grad senior
Carter Hain delivered a strong performance with a home run, contributing one run and one RBI. Sophomore
Aidan Schuck provided offensive support with two RBIs on one hit as redshirt-sophomore
Tony Konopiots recorded two hits and scored a run, adding depth to the lineup. On the mound, sophomore
Andrew Landis pitched two scoreless innings, garnering a strikeout while allowing no hits.
Oakland took an early lead in the second inning with Hain's solo home run to left center. Konopiots followed with a single, and redshirt-senior
Jack Lux's walk set the stage for junior
Ben Clark's single through the left side, loading the bases. Schuck then delivered a two-RBI single to right field, driving in Konopiots and Lux.
Texas A&M responded in the third inning with a three-run homer to center field, tying the game through three innings.
In the fifth inning, the Aggies broke the tie. A single and walk set the stage for a two-RBI double to right-center, putting Texas A&M ahead by two runs.
Texas A&M added an unearned run in the sixth inning, extending their lead to 6-3 through the end of the game.
Junior
Jordan Dahlof started for Oakland, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing five runs off of three hits, and picking up a strikeout at the plate. Junior
Owen Thomson came in briefly, pitching 1/3 of an inning and allowing two hits with one unearned run before Landis effectively closed out his stint with two innings of no-hit pitching, striking out one and walking two. Senior
Jaxson Easterlin pitched one inning, surrendering a hit, but kept the scoreboard clean.
GAME TWO:
Texas A&M took control early, starting with a double and continuing with an RBI-single. The Aggies later added a two-RBI single and a sacrifice-fly, followed by a bases-loaded walk, which contributed to their 5-0 lead after the first inning.
In the second inning, Texas A&M extended its lead with a solo homer and two-run homer to extend to eight runs.
Oakland got on the board in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Patton to right-center before Texas A&M added one more run in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly.
In the eighth inning, the Golden Grizzlies scored again when Clark singled and later crossed the plate on a single by Schuck. The Aggies responded with a run of their own in the bottom half, scoring on a fielder's choice, solidifying the score at 10-2 .
Grad senior
Camden Cooper started on the bump in the second game, allowing five runs on three hits in just 2/3 work of an inning. Redshirt-junior
Stephen Ruhle, in relief, pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up three earned runs on three hits, while sitting two down at the plate. Junior
Blake Sehlke provided stability with 4.3 innings of relief, allowing just one run on three hits with one strikeout, and inducing a double play before senior
Josh Korson delivered a scoreless inning, and freshman
Tagertt Dillard closed with one inning of work, conceding one run on one hit.
The Golden Grizzlies and Aggies will be back at Olsen Field and Blue Bell Park for the series finale tomorrow, March 7. First pitch is scheduled for 12 pm ET on SEC Network+.
