Golden Grizzlies Head to Wright State for Horizon League Series

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies Baseball team is back in Horizon League action to face Wright State over the weekend at Nischwitz Stadium March 27-29. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Chris Collins (PxP) and Bob Grote (Color) will have the call on ESPN+ for Friday's game only.

Oakland earned a dramatic 7–6 comeback win over Michigan at Ray Fisher Stadium, highlighted by a resilient offensive effort and late-game execution. The Golden Grizzlies totaled nine hits and drew nine walks in a back-and-forth contest, staying within reach even after Michigan erased an earlier deficit with a three-run eighth inning to tie the game. Oakland's persistence at the plate and ability to capitalize on opportunities kept the pressure on throughout the matchup.

In the decisive ninth inning, Oakland responded with three runs to retake the lead and secure the upset victory. The pitching staff then held off Michigan's final push to close out the game, sealing one of the team's most notable wins of the season. The comeback showcased Oakland's depth and composure late, as the Golden Grizzlies overcame momentum swings to finish strong against a Big Ten opponent on the road.

The Golden Grizzlies are now second in the Horizon League with a team batting average of .246, as fifth-year Kyle Revere leads OU with a .322 average in 90 plate appearances. From the mound, freshman Ben Green leads the Oakland bullpen with a 3.32 ERA in three starts, drawing up 12 strikeouts and a win.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Wright State enters the weekend at 9–12 overall and 3–0 in Horizon League play after opening conference action with a sweep of Milwaukee Panthers baseball and earning a midweek 10–8 win over Ohio State at Nischwitz Stadium. In that victory, the Raiders collected 14 hits and scored the game's final four runs, with catcher Nate Manley recording three hits and four RBIs to lead the offense. Wright State has been battle-tested early with matchups against nationally ranked Tennessee Volunteers baseball and Georgia Bulldogs baseball, while also picking up signature nonconference wins and positioning itself near the top of the Horizon League standings entering the series with Oakland.

The Raiders hold the strong upperhand in the series with a 63-18 record against Oakland. The last W for the Black and Gold came in 2024 with a 15-12 slugfest at home, as OU took the opening series earlier in the year, 2-1. The Golden Grizzlies and Raiders last met in the 2025 Horizon League Tournament, with an 8-2 decision to Wright State.
