ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies begin their 2026 outdoor track and field season this weekend with a two-day trip to Indiana Wesleyan University for the Polar Bear Invite on Mar. 20-21.
The first event featuring the Golden Grizzlies will take place Friday at 4 p.m., as Colin Farmer,
Ethan Sandula, and
Joseph Shaya hit the track for the men, while
Ava Alicandro,
Anne May,
Amy Rowan, and
Makenna Scott compete for the women.
On Saturday, the action begins at 11 a.m., with Oakland competing in the mile and 800m races. For the men, Abukaram Mamdouh,
Lucas Kuhn,
Josiah Magley, and
Jaxson Nowik will race in the mile.
Mackenzie Lemke,
Maggie Hall, and
Sophy Skeels will represent the women in the mile as well. In the weekend finale,
Abigail Rice and
Josh Cundy will look to turn in strong performances in their respective 800m sections.
This opening meet of the season serves as a mid- to long-distance starting point for an Oakland team that is as deep as any in the conference on both sides, as it prepares for a highly anticipated spring 2026 campaign.
