ROCHESTER, Mich. – Head coach Brian Nelson and the Oakland Golden Grizzlies baseball team announced their slate for the upcoming 2026 season.
Oakland will take part in 55 regular season games which span from February to May. The team will open up its season on the road on Friday, Feb. 13 in Beaumont, Texas, with a weekend series against Lamar, before a regional roadtrip to Evansville, Indiana for a four-game series with Southern Indiana.
The Golden Grizzlies will then head into SEC territory with an eight-game road stretch at Georgia (Feb. 27-Mar. 1) before a midweek at Tennessee (March 4), then down to Coach Nelson's alma mater, Texas A&M (March 6-8). OU will play a Wednesday afternoon midweek game at Akron (March 11), before opening the Horizon League Slate at Youngstown State for a three-game series (Mar. 13-15).
The boys in Black and Gold will head back to the mitten state for back-to-back midweek games at Eastern Michigan on March 17, before hosting the Eagles at the OU Baseball Field on March 18 for the home opener. The Golden Grizzlies will host Northern Kentucky, March 20-22, for their first HL weekend series of the season. They will close out the month of March on the road, taking on Michigan in Ann Arbor (March 24), a weekend series at the defending Horizon League Champions, Wright State (March 27-29), and a midweek match up down I-75 at Bowling Green (March 31) before the Easter break.
Oakland will open the month of April with two five-game home stretches, seeing back-to-back midweek games against Toledo (Apr. 7) and Rochester Christian (Apr. 8), before hosting Milwaukee over the weekend (Apr. 10-12). OU will then head to East Lansing to face head coach Jake Boss Jr. and the Spartans on April 14, before heading back to Rochester for games against Cleary (Apr. 15), Youngstown State (Apr. 17-19), and Central Michigan (Apr. 21). Oakland will wrap up on the road April 24-26 at Northern Kentucky and April 29 at Toledo.
OU will celebrate senior weekend in their final home series of the season, hosting Wright State May 1-3, before a quick jump into non-conference action at Central Michigan (May 5) and a weekend series in South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Black and Gold will play one final midweek contest against Akron on May 12 on their own turf before the final regular season series of the season commences at Milwaukee May 14-16.
Included in those 56 games are 18 home games that will take place on the Oakland Baseball Field, with 12 of those being conference matches. In between its Horizon League weekend series, the Golden Grizzlies play a foursome of midweek games against MAC schools along with two games against Rochester Christian (Apr. 8) and Cleary (Apr. 15).
At a location still to be determined, the 2026 Horizon League Championship will be held from May 20-23. Home promotional schedule and further TV announcements will be made at a later date.
