ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies open their 2026 home schedule with a doubleheader against U of M-Dearborn in an early-season showdown.

This game marks the earliest in the season that Oakland has hosted a home contest in program history, and the first to be played in the OU Grizz Dome.

Oakland enters the game with a 2-3 record after competing in the DePaul Dome Tournament last weekend. Despite losing each of their last three games of the tournament, the Golden Grizzlies earned a pair of double-digit victories to open the season.

The Golden Grizzlies also showcased a dominant weekend of pitching, posting a 4.40 ERA to lead the Horizon League after the opening weekend of play. In two starts, Kenna Bommarito shined with a 0.66 ERA, along with 13 strikeouts and just six hits allowed. Mary Newton and Jessica Nelson also held ERAs below 3.00 in their appearances, as Oakland allowed three or fewer runs in three of the five games played.

Maggie Murphy, Storm Kentros, and Kam Troyer are all off to blazing starts, each batting over .400 after opening weekend. Oakland also displayed power at the plate, as Kayla Turmell and Bella Crager both hit home runs in the opening tournament.

Oakland will face off against U of M-Dearborn for the first time in program history. The Wolverines are also set to play their first games of the season against the Golden Grizzlies on Friday.

In 2025, U of M-Dearborn went 13-21-1, falling to Concordia in the first round of its conference tournament. The Wolverines are led by returning top hitter Kendyl Gearhart, who batted .337 and blasted a team-high eight home runs in 2025.

The home-opening doubleheader begins at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, at the OU Grizz Dome.
