Women's Basketball Unveils 2025-26 Conference Schedule

ROCHESTER, Mich. The Golden Grizzlies women's basketball program has announced its 2025-26 Horizon League schedule, aiming to make another deep run in the Horizon League Championship.

Oakland is led by new head coach Keisha Newell, who brings championship pedigree and a winning culture from Lewis University. She guided the Flyers to three consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) regular-season championships, and one GLVC Tournament title.

In 2024, the Golden Grizzlies went 9-22 (6-14 HL) and earned a first-round Horizon League Championship victory over IU Indy, marking their first conference tournament win since 2022.

The 2025 conference slate begins with two early showdowns at Wright State (Dec. 3) and at home against Cleveland State (Dec. 6). Oakland will then finish its non-conference games before officially resuming Horizon League play with a road trip to Robert Morris (Dec. 29) to close the 2025 calendar year.

The 2026 portion of the schedule opens with a home matchup against league runner-up Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 2) and a trip to Youngstown State (Jan. 5). After that, Oakland enjoys a two-game homestand against reigning league champion Green Bay (Jan. 8) and Milwaukee (Jan. 10) before starting a three-game road trip. That stretch includes the first Metro Series rivalry action against Detroit Mercy (Jan. 18), followed by visits to Green Bay (Jan. 22) and Milwaukee (Jan. 24).

The Golden Grizzlies then host IU Indy (Jan. 28), their opponent from the 2024-25 Horizon League first round, before welcoming Youngstown State to the Blacktop (Jan. 31). Oakland closes January with a road game at Northern Kentucky (Feb. 3) to kick off the final month of the regular season.

Oakland finishes the season with a heavy home stretch, playing at the OU Credit Union O'rena four times in its final seven contests. The Golden Grizzlies open that push against rival Detroit Mercy (Feb. 7) before traveling to IU Indy (Feb. 11). They then alternate home and away matchups, hosting Wright State (Feb. 14), visiting Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 18), and returning to the O'rena for back-to-back games against Robert Morris (Feb. 21) and Northern Kentucky (Feb. 25). Oakland wraps up the regular season on the road at Cleveland State (Feb. 28), setting the stage for postseason play.
