Baseball Enters Final Week of Regular Season

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland Baseball prepares for their final week of the 2025 regular season, taking a trip to Mt. Pleasant to take on Central Michigan (CMU) before hosting their season finale against Milwaukee.

The Golden Grizzlies fell in their last series to Youngstown State, taking one game out of the three game series. Despite the series loss, Oakland scored 12+ runs in two of the games, including a 13-run series opener.

In the series-opening win, Hunter Pidek dominated the mound, tossing a complete game with five strikeouts, allowed just three hits, and retired 14 straight batters from the second to seventh innings.

John Lauinger has continued to shine for Oakland at the plate, registering three hits in two of the last four games, hitting .349 on the season. Taylor Tomlin (.338) and Matt McGann (.331) also hit well above .300 for the Golden grizzlies as the offense always remains a threat to put up big numbers on the scoreboard.

TUESDAY, MAY 13 @ CENTRAL MICHIGAN | 3 PM

The Chippewas and Golden Grizzlies face off for the second and final time this season. In their previous meeting (4/22) Oakland came out on top 8-7 after a huge 8th inning comeback, followed by an 11th inning walk-off single by Lauinger.

Lauinger (3-for-5) was one of three Golden Grizzlies to earn three hits in the game, joined by Boston Halloran (3-for-5) and Sam Griffith (3-for-5).

Oakland will be searching for their fourth consecutive head-to-head win over CMU. The Chippewas (19-32) actually hold a worse record at home (7-11) than they do on the road (12-21) this season.

Coming off a two games to one series win over Eastern Michigan this past weekend, CMU is searching for traction in a tightly packed MAC conference.

WEEKEND SERIES vs MILWAUKEE | MAY 15-17 | ESPN+

Oakland will host the Panthers this weekend, taking on a second place team that they played closely in their last meeting.

In a three game series from Apr. 11 to Apr. 13 Oakland took one game from Milwaukee on the road, using what was once a seven-run lead to win 9-7.

In that game freshman star Grant Garman earned the win on the mound, while Cater Hain went yard and Matt McGann tallied three RBI.

The Panthers (15-11 HL) are second in the Horizon League, sitting just half a game above Northern Kentucky for the spot.

Despite their spot in the conference, Oakland hold a better batting average (.264) than the Panthers (.256), as well as a better ERA, having an average of 7.47 to Milwaukee's 7.76.

The Panthers are currently on a three-game winning streak, sweeping Purdue Fort Wayne in their most recent series.

A relatively struggling team on the road this season, Milwaukee is just 8-24 outside of Wisconsin this season. They also haven't left Rochester with a win since 2023, losing five straight at the Den.

Oakland will also celebrate senior day, and all games will be streamed on ESPN+.
