Baseball Gears Up for Week of Road Games as they Visit Ann Arbor and Milwaukee

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies were able to secure a weekend-ending win last week against Youngstown State, setting them up for a busy week as they head to Ann Arbor to take on the University of Michigan, before heading to Milwaukee to take on the Panthers.

Oakland finished the weekend out strong, beating the Penguins by ten runs in the series finale. Matt McGann continued a strong stretch, hitting his team-best fifth homer of the season. Ben Clark also had a solid series, going 4-for-6 in two games over the weekend.

McGann ranks eighth in the Horizon League in batting average (.333), joining teammate Taylor Tomlin (.397) who ranks third. McGann also ranks sixth in RBI (28). They are also seeing solid contributions from Brandon Nigh, who leads the conference in doubles (14) and Trent Rice who leads the conference in steals (19).

The Oakland bats are aiming to heat up after scoring their second most runs in a game this season (15) their last time out.

WEDNESDAY, APR. 9 @ MICHIGAN | 4 PM | BTN+

The Wolverines come into the week with a 17-14 record, notching a 12-11 win over #15 Oregon on Apr. 6.

The Golden Grizzlies have won two of the last three matchups against the Wolverines, but Michigan took the victory in the last meeting, ending on top 13-5 in March of last season.

The Wolverines are in the middle of the pack in terms of hitting and pitching in the Big Ten, but have two of the top four hitters in the conference in Benny Casillas (.408 BA) and Mitch Voit (.389 BA).

APR. 11-13 @ MILWAUKEE | ESPN+

Oakland hits the road once again to take on the Panthers, who currently sit in second place in the Horizon League standings with a 6-4 conference record coming into the week.

The Golden Grizzlies and Panthers sit back-to-back in both hitting and pitching, with Oakland ranking fourth in hitting (.257 BA) and Milwaukee fifth (.252 BA), while Oakland has the third lowest ERA (7.56) and Milwaukee sits fourth (8.39).

Despite a relatively high team ERA, the Panthers are home to the league's top pitcher, Gavin Theis, who holds the lowest individual ERA (4.22), the most wins (5), and fifth most strikeouts (35).

With spots two through six tight in the Horizon League, this series could already hold postseason implications for either team.
