Baseball Faces Pair of MAC Opponents to Start Week Before Closing with Series at NKU

ROCHESTER, MICH. - The Golden Grizzlies look to snap a four game losing skid this upcoming week as they play five games in seven days, beginning the week with a pair of non-conference matchups with Toledo and Central Michigan, followed by a week-ending rematch with Northern Kentucky (NKU).

On the heels of a three game sweep by the hands of Wright State, Oakland is looking for momentum as the final stretch of the regular season continues.

Brandon Nigh has been on a hot streak, leading what hopes to be the reignition of Oakland's bats. The senior shortstop earned at least one hit in each of his last four games, batting .500 (7-for-14) over the stretch.

Oakland has also continued to be stellar defensively, as one of the top fielding teams in the conference. They rank first in putouts (1,009), second in fielding percentage, and second in caught stolen bases (17).

MONDAY, APR. 21 @ TOLEDO | 3 PM | ESPN+

The Rockets and the Golden Grizzlies will play their first of two meetings this season, with the next coming next week.

Oakland will travel to Toledo, looking for their first road win against the Rockets in program history, coming up short the previous nine opportunities.

Toledo (15-22) is coming off a three-game sweep of Western Michigan in their latest series.

Anchored by their pitching, with a 5.65 team ERA, Toledo has a strong rotation on the mound, spearheaded by Logan Jones who has a team-best 2-2 record and 2.91 ERA, along with 33 strikeouts.

While solid on the bump, Toledo struggles at the plate, hitting just .224 as a team, scoring one run or less in ten games this season.

TUESDAY, APR. 22 vs CENTRAL MICHIGAN | 3 PM

Returning home for a single game, Oakland and the Chippewas meet in a midweek matchup.

The Golden Grizzlies have won back-to-back matchups with CMU, beating them twice last season, scoring 9+ runs in both of the wins.

CMU (16-24) has lost two of their last three games, falling to Miami (Oh.) in their most recent series.

With a team batting average of .282, they have three players over the .300 mark, including sophomore Mikey Murphy who's hitting .306, third on the team, but leads in home runs (4) and RBI (26).

WEEKEND SERIES @ NKU | APR. 25-27

The Golden Grizzlies will showdown with the Norse for the final time this regular season, looking to repeat their previous meeting when Oakland won the series two games to one, including a walk-off win in the opener as Matt McGann played the hero with a RBI single.

NKU has heated up since that series, now sitting in second place in the Horizon League with an 11-7 conference record. They also hold the best batting average (.297) and second best ERA (6.92) in the conference.

Junior outfielder Logen Davenport leads the conference with a .429 batting average and 1.375 OPS. He is also a part of a trio, combining with Gabe Miranda and Josh Williams, who's 45-plus RBIs each are top three in the conference.

Oakland's pitching will be key in this matchup. In the series earlier this season, the Golden Grizzlies held NKU to six or less runs twice, shutting them out once as they halted what would become a high-powered offense.
