ROCHESTER, Mich. – Women's Tennis is back on the road for their final weekend of Horizon League play against Youngstown State and Cleveland State. The currently second place Golden Grizzlies look to take first place in conference with a pair of wins this weekend.
The Golden Grizzlies are currently undefeated in Horizon League play so far, picking up wins against Chicago State, Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky, and IU Indianapolis. This weekend they will face the top two teams in conference in their stride for first headed into Horizon League Championships.
In their last time out, the Golden Grizzlies saw impressive play from doubles pair,
Martyna Piechowicz and
Josie Ward. The duo went undefeated, helping earn the doubles point against IU Indianapolis, and earn Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week honors. On the singles side,
Emilia Jarvinen put together an impressive weekend, going undefeated in the No. 1 spot, which earned her Horizon League Singles Player of the Week honors.
With a bye week between their last competition and now, the Golden Grizzlies have used this time to prepare for a test between the top three teams in the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies are set to take on the Penguins Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Youngstown, Ohio. On Saturday, the Golden Grizzlies will face off against the current top seed Vikings at 2:00 p.m..
