Baseball Looks for Big Ticket Win over Wright State

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies return to their home diamond as they host Wright State in a series with big implications in the conference standings as the final stretch of the season begins.

Despite a 2-1 series loss to Milwaukee last time out, Oakland is seeing several big contributions at the plate, specifically from Taylor Tomlin, Matt McGann, John Lauinger, and Trent Rice. The four all are hitting above .265 on the season, with Tomlin (.394), McGann (.339), and Lauinger (.314) all hitting above .300.

McGann and Lauinger are both riding five game hitting streaks, while Rice and Lauinger are now both above 18 stolen bases on the season, each ranking in the top three in the conference.

Oakland will take on one of their toughest tests of the season in the Raiders, who are 13-2 in conference play and have won seven of their last eight games.

The Golden Grizzlies will be looking for revenge from their matchup earlier this season where the Raiders swept Oakland in a three game series in Dayton.

Oakland's is batting .258 as a team, fourth best in the Horizon League, while Wright State has the best team ERA at 6.34.

A series win for the Golden Grizzlies could move them from last to as high as fourth place in the conference.

The big time series will begin on Thursday, Apr. 17 at 3 p.m., followed by game number two on Friday, Apr. 18 at 2 p.m. and a finale on Saturday, Apr. 19 at 1 p.m.
