Softball Gets Ready for Another Two-Series Week Against Lawrence Tech and IU Indy

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies buckle up for another busy week with a pair of series as the final fourth of the season draws near. Oakland will host a midweek doubleheader against Lawrence Tech, and a series at IU Indianapolis (IU Indy) to close out the week.

Despite a series loss to Purdue For Wayne in the last series, Oakland saw their bats wake up during the three game stretch. Kam Troyer and Brooklyn Plitz have spearheaded the charge for the Golden Grizzlies at the plate.

Troyer finished the last series batting 5-for-9 from the plate as she continues to come alive on offense, tying Madi Herrington for the team lead in batting average with a .326 mark.

Plitz is currently riding an eight-game hit streak, going 9-for-28 (.321) over the stretch.

WEDNESDAY, APR. 16 vs LAWRENCE TECH

The Golden Grizzlies and the Blue Devils will meet for the first time in program history, playing a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Lawrence Tech comes into the meeting with a 15-16 record, riding a four-game winning streak, sweeping Lourdes University and Defiance College in a pair of doubleheaders last week.

They boast an impressive .314 team batting average, led by senior Lily Morrissette, who is batting .427 with four home runs. Senior Gloriana Su'a is also hitting .337 and has a team-best 34 RBI.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY, APR. 18-19 @ IU INDIANAPOLIS

The Jags and the Golden Grizzlies face off in a must-win series for Oakland, who currently sits in seventh in the Horizon League standings, just one spot out of a postseason spot.

IU Indy (16-23, 10-8 HL) currently holds fifth place, also riding a four-game winning streak after a series finale win over Northern Kentucky and a series sweep over Youngstown State last week.

The season of IU Indy has been a tale of two sides. They are the second-best hitting team in the Horizon League with a .294 batting average, but their pitching has been rocky as they have the highest ERA (6.41) in the conference.

Their pitching struggles may serve a window for Oakland to tee up from the plate and continue their hot hitting streak.

Oakland will have to face off against junior Molly Kable, who is hitting a league-high .416. She also has 50 hits and 35 RBI, both ranking top three in the league.

The Golden Grizzlies and Jags begin their series with a game on Apr. 18 at 3 p.m., and close the series with a doubleheader on Apr. 19 at 1 p.m.
