Softball Takes on Green Bay in Second Straight Home Series

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies prepare for their second of three consecutive home series as they take on Green Bay to close out the week.

Oakland is looking to gain any momentum they can after a rough series to Northern Kentucky last time out. Despite the series loss, the Golden Grizzlies are looking more and more comfortable as each game passes.

Freshman pitcher Kenna Bommarito had one of her best outings of the year in Sunday's series finale, tossing six innings in relief of shutout softball, striking out four batters.

At the plate, Madi Herrington and Kayla Turmell enjoyed solid batting weekends, raising their averages to .300. Herrington leads the team in almost every hitting statistic as she continues the best start of her career, ranking at the top of the team in hits (18), runs (11), doubles (3), home runs (2), and RBI (11).

Oakland will face off against the Phoenix beginning with a double header on Thursday, Mar. 27, at 1 p.m.

The Golden Grizzlies have dominated the Phoenix over the teams' histories, holding a 24-6 all-time record while winning eight of the last ten matchups. Green Bay has just one victory in Rochester over the last five years, coming back in 2023.

Green Bay has had a bumpy start to their conference schedule, getting swept in each of their initial Horizon League series, holding an 0-6 conference record.

Even with the rough start, the Phoenix have a dynamic duo keeping them afloat in Paige Hanson and Sarah Ebner, who both rank in the top ten in the Horizon League in batting average with over .355 averages.
