ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's tennis team continues its spring season with a road match-up against Ball State on Sunday, February 9th, in Muncie, Indiana. The Golden Grizzlies look to build on their recent success as they take on a strong Cardinals squad.
Oakland (2-2) enters the match following a pair of impressive victories against Northwood (5-2) and Eastern Michigan (5-2). Emilia Jarvinen, the reigning Horizon League Women's Singles Player of the Week, leads the Golden Grizzlies at No. 1 singles, coming off back-to-back wins over top competition. Jarvinen and Warisara "Best" Lee, who earned Horizon League Women's Doubles Team of the Week honors, have been dominant at the top of the doubles lineup. The duo of Edie Hammond and Martyna Piechowicz have been impressive this spring with three wins in four matches. On the singles side, Nisa Bulut, Edie Hammond, and Josie Ward are primed for a breakthrough following a pair of wins and losses.
Ball State (0-1) presents a formidable challenge, having established itself as a consistent contender in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Cardinals are known for their depth across the lineup and will look to defend their home court against an Oakland team eager to continue its momentum. Ball State is looking for its first win of the spring season following a loss to Notre Dame to kick off their season.
This Sunday showdown will begin at noon in Muncie, Indiana, where the Golden Grizzlies are looking for a statement win on the road.
