Golden Grizzlies Prepare for a Busy Week Down South

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies come out of their first weekend of play with a 2-2 record, and have another busy week ahead as they play a three game midweek series at Alabama A&M, before closing out the week with a four-game stretch at Northern Alabama as they play seven games in five days.

Oakland saw a lot of promise at the plate, with five players leaving the weekend with an over .300 batting average. Brooklyn Plitz, Kamryn Troyer, Madi Herrington, and Alyssa Balcom all accumulated over four hits to start the season.

FEB. 25-26 @ ALABAMA A&M

The Golden Grizzlies and Bulldogs will face off three times in their series, with a double header on Tuesday (11 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.) and a series finale on Wednesday (1 p.m.) as they meet for the first time ever.

Alabama A&M comes into the series with a 6-1 record, riding a pair of back-to-back wins over Fort Valley State (2/14) and MAryland Eastern Shore (2/15).

The Bulldogs are hitting .363 over their first seven games, led by infielder Heaven Bibs, who has started the season on fire with a .526 average (10-19) and eight RBIs.

Oakland ace Alyssa Balcom will duel with Bulldogs ace Alyssa Charter-Smith, who has struck out 13 batters and holds a 3-0 record thus far.

FEB. 28- MAR. 1 @ UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN ALABAMA

Oakland and the Lions will play a pair of double headers on Friday (12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.) and Saturday (12 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.).

Although bolstering an impressive 10-3 record coming into the week, the Lions are on the ropes momentum wise, having lost back-to-back games to ranked opponents in Auburn and Mississippi State last week.

A prolific offense that has scored eight runs in four games, it will be a showdown for the ages against an impressive defensive team in the Golden Grizzlies.

Utility player Briley Dover heads the Northern Alabama with a .452 batting average and four home runs on the season so far.
