Golden Grizzlies Prepare for Busy Week at Home as Postseason Nears

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies set up for a final set of home games as they prepare to take on the University of Michigan and Robert Morris this week.

Oakland is currently riding a league-high six-game winning streak as the gap between them and first place Youngstown State shrinks to just one game. Over their six-game winning streak, the Golden Grizzlies are batting .389 (63-of-162) from the plate, while outsourcing their opponents a combined  total of 37 to eight.

Kamryn Troyer was the lead hitter for Oakland in a pair of wins over IUPUI last week, going 2-of-3 in both games with a pair of doubles, extending her hitting-streak to eight consecutive games. Troyer ranks top ten in RBI (15) in conference games and is batting .309 for the entire season, one of three Golden Grizzlies over .300, joining Jen Krizka (.391) and Brooklyn Plitz (.361), who sit fourth and sixth in the conference in hitting. Krizka currently leads the league in on base percentage (.472) and OPS (1.037).

On the other side of the ball, Oakland's pitching continues to be untouchable. Lead pitcher Sydney Campbell continues her tear of games, improving to 15-5 with 10 straight wins after starting the season 5-5. She has a league-best 1.48 ERA overall, which is also top 30 in the nation, with an even lower 1.08 ERA in league play. Alyssa Balcom, the number two pitcher in the rotation, also remains as one of the top pitchers in the conference with a third best 2.38 ERA overall and 2.07 ERA in league play.

In their first game of the week, taking place at the Oakland Softball Field on Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 3 p.m., the Golden Grizzlies will take on the Michigan Wolverines. The teams met earlier this season in Ann Arbor where Michigan pulled out a 0-2 win behind two solo-home runs in the second inning.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES

The Wolverines are 33-14 (13-3 Big Ten) and sit in second place in the Big Ten. They have a team ERA of 2.78, also second best in their conference.

Their bats are anchored by a pair of .370 hitters in junior outfielder Ellie Sieler (.374) and sophomore third base Maddie Erickson (.370).

In the circle Michigan has a one-two punch similar in strength to Oakland's. Their duo of aces features Lauren Derkowski who boasts a 2.34 ERA and 13-7 record, followed by Erin Hoehn with a 3.35 ERA and 14-4 record.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS

In their final home series of the year Oakland will take on the Colonials on Apr. 26 and 27, beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Robert Morris is 14-20 (9-9 HL) as they hold on to the fifth spot in the Horizon League. While they sit middle of the pack in hitting with a .251 team batting average, they are one of the best defensive teams in the league. With the fourth best ERA (3.90) and the best fielding percentage (.973) and least number of errors (26), the Colonials play mistake free ball on defense.

Number one in their rotation is freshman pitcher  Kailani Tatro, who's 3.11 ERA is the sixth best in the league. Their pitcher with the most wins this season is junior Jaimee Hardy, who is 5-1 on the season.

The Colonials have one batter of over .300 average in outfielder Kaylyn Hopf who is hitting .309.
