Golden Grizzlies Baseball Preps for Five Games in Seven Days

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies baseball team is in store for a busy week as it's set for five games in seven days, with sole games against Toledo (April 1) and Bowling Green (April 2), followed by a weekend series against Milwaukee (April 5-7).
 
The Golden Grizzlies (12-15, 4-5 HL) are coming off a week to remember after it took care of Big Ten Michigan State, followed by a series win on the road against the Wright State Raiders.
 
In the 3-1 week, the Golden Grizzlies outscored its opponents, 46-20, as it run-ruled the Raiders in seven innings, 19-1, in its series opener March 28. Lucas Day led the way as he tallied nine hits off 20 at-bats as the Golden Grizzlies went 3-1 on the week with a series win over Wright State. Had three hits and three RBI in a 19-1 run-rule win over the Raiders. Went 3-of-5 from the plate against Michigan State in a win and tallied three hits. On the week, he recorded eight RBI, two doubles and a home run. On the bump, Hunter Pidek pitched a complete game (7.0 IP, run-rule) against Wright State and only allowed one hit with one run. Struck out a pair and didn't let up a walk for his second win of the year.
 
The Golden Grizzlies narrowly get outhit as it totals two less than its opponents, at 296 to 294. With a .309 batting average, Oakland has outscored its opponents, 236-207, with 210 RBI. The Golden Grizzlies totals 93 extra-base hits with 55 doubles, 15 triples and 23 home runs, while the teams 79 total steals put it top-five in the nation. As a team, the team holds a 7.82 ERA with 166 strikeouts and has walked 108.
 
Day leads the team with 29 RBI and holds the team lead with 35 hits and seven home runs, while Carter Hain leads with a .419 batting average.
 
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
The Toledo Rockets (13-14, 8-4 MAC) come into the Monday matchup having won five of its last seven and come off a series win against Northern Illinois where it outscored the Huskies, 34-16. The Golden Grizzlies are the third Horizon League team the Rockets will face as it fell to Wright State, 22-9, before it won its most recent Horizon League matchup against Youngstown State, 19-6.
 
Overall, the Golden Grizzlies are 5-9 against the Rockets and enter Monday's game having won its last meeting. Oakland picked up the tight win, 4-3, as Jaxson Easterlin picked up the win with Brandon Nigh picking up the save. Prior to the win, the Golden Grizzlies lost three-straight as it went 12 years since its last win against the Rockets. With an 0-8 record on the road, Oakland looks to grab its first win on the road against Toledo.
 
Just like the Golden Grizzlies, the Rockets get outhit by its opponents, 244-240, as Toledo has totaled 169 runs on the year. The team has been sent back from the dish 258 times with 124 walks drawn, as its hit 45 home runs and has given up just 24.
 
Garret Pike leads the team with 26 RBI off his 38 hits as he's tallied four doubles, a triple and nine home runs. Pike also leads the team with a .352 batting average and has drawn 11 walks on the year with four steals.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
The Bowling Green Falcons (12-10, 9-0 MAC) will face a Horizon League team for the first time this season as it was slated for a solo game against Youngstown State but was canceled. The team had a difficult non-conference schedule as it faced Tennessee for a weekend series and dropped all three but 10 or more runs to get run-ruled in all three. The Falcons come into Tuesday's game off a series loss against Xavier as it won its final game against the Musketeers, 8-4.
 
Oakland is 4-6 against the Falcons and will look to break a two-game losing streak, with its last win coming at home in 2022. The Falcons have visited the Oakland Baseball Field for four-straight matchups as the Golden Grizzlies are 1-3 on its home field. A series which dates back to 2000, the teams are an even 3-3 in its last six meetings.
 
The Falcons get outhit on the season, 243-239, as it has batted in 191 runs with 214 total and has given up 185 total runs. The team has hit 39 home runs on the year with 31 doubles and nine triples with a .302 batting average. In total, the team has been struck out and has struck out the same amount, at 176 each, and has walked 114 batters.
 
Jack Krause leads the team with a .373 batting average as Nathan Archer holds a team-high of 28 RBI. Archer also leads the team with seven home runs and 35 hits as Jack Krause has drawn the most walks with 16. DJ Newman leads the teams pitching core with 32.1 innings pitched and a 3-2 record, as he's allowed 29 hits with a 3.06 ERA.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
The Milwaukee Panthers (4-20, 3-6 HL) rank second-to-last in the Horizon League as it won its first game after it opened up the year with 12-straight losses. The team faces Valparaiso tomorrow (April 2) before its weekend series against the Golden Grizzlies as it most recently took a series against Purdue Fort Wayne. The Panthers key win this season came at Wright State where it defeated the Raiders, 19-6, in seven innings.
 
The Golden Grizzlies hold a 24-30 record against the Panthers and look for its third-straight win against the team. Oakland has won seven of the last 10 meetings while the Golden Grizzlies are 9-18 on the road. The Golden Grizzlies average 5.76 runs per game while the Panthers tally 7.26 per game.
 
Milwaukee gets outhit, 209-192, as the team narrowly eclipsed the 100-run mark with 103 in total as it has given up 180. Although it holds a .243 batting average, it holds its opponents to a .275 batting average. The team has tallied 42 doubles while it has hit six triples and seven doubles. The Panthers have been struck out 206 times while striking out 176 and have walked 145 batters.
 
Both Tyler Bickers and Carson Hansen are tied for a team lead with 17 RBI as Bickers leads the team with a .329 batting average. Hansen leads the team with three home runs and 10 doubles while Gabe Roessler has drawn the most walks with 12. Luke Hansel leads on the bump with a 2.74 ERA in seven games started as he's turned aside 42 batters.
