Golden Grizzlies Head to Ann Arbor for In-State Showdown with Wolverines

ROCHESTER, Mich. - After a 2-1 series win against league rivals NKU, The Golden Grizzlies return to Michigan and into out of conference play as they prepare for a midweek game against the University of Michigan.

The Golden Grizzlies are returning to form recently, after a blazing start to the season at the Charleston Invite and Chanticleer Showdown, followed by a bit of a slump in the Indiana Invite, Oakland had some of their best success hitting and on defense in their series with NKU.

At the plate, Oakland is hitting .273 in their last three games, using small-ball hitting to their advantage, advancing runners and making the most of runners in scoring position. Oakland leads the Horizon league in triples with six on the season, despite playing the least amount of games thus far (17).

In the circle, Oakland was dominant in their latest series, highlighted by Sydney Campbell's series closing shutout, earning her fifth win of the year and second of the series, moving her ERA to 2.01, second lowest in the Horizon League.

Oakland will be looking to break a seven game losing streak against the Wolverines, holding an 0-7 all-time record against Michigan. The Golden Grizzlies are primed to break the streak, measuring up nicely with Michigan. The Wolverines, who currently sit at 16-11, previously lost 3-2 to  NKU earlier in the season. Oakland also holds the advantage in hitting over Michigan, hitting .248 as a team compared to the Wolverines' .245.

While this game will be Michigan's home opener, the Wolverines are 1-6 in true road games, having a few bumpy spots in the road including a five game losing streak from Feb. 28 to Mar. 1.

The in-state showdown has been moved up one day from its previously scheduled day, now being held on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 4 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
