ROCHESTER, Mich. - Right-handed pitcher Brandon Decker and outfielder Ian Cleary were named to separate watch lists for the 2024 season, as Decker was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List, while Cleary was named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Watch List.
 
Decker, the senior out of Farmington Hills, Mich., enters his third year with the Golden Grizzlies after a stellar 2023 season. Decker won Horizon League Reliever of the Year and was First Team All-Conference after going 8-3 and tallying five saves. With a 4.39 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 71 strikeouts over 69.2 innings, all 25 of his appearances came out of the bullpen. The senior led the league with five saves, while his eight wins were second-most and his 71 strikeouts were fifth. Along with those eight wins, that accounts for the most in a season since the program began competing at the NCAA Division I level in 1998.
 
Cleary, the Macomb, Mich., native, enters his final year as the graduate student looks to have another impactful season. In 2023, Cleary played in 59 games and smacked 63 hits, with 17 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 41 RBI. With a batting average of .306, Cleary crossed the plate himself on 35 occasions. He led the team in hits and RBI last season as he earned the Horizon League's Valeo Men's Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Season, and was a Second Team All-Horizon League honoree. In three games this year, Cleary has knocked down four hits with one double for a .444 batting average.
 
Decker, Cleary and the Golden Grizzlies are back in action this weekend as it sets off for Eastern Kentucky to face the Colonels, with first pitch for the series opening Friday (Feb. 23) set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
