ROCHESTER, Mich. - It was a competitive week in Oakland Athletics between five separate sports, both on the track and different courts, as this week's OU Prairie Farms Athlete of the Week honors comes to the basketball court as
Trey Townsend from men's basketball and
Maddy Skorupski from women's basketball take home the recognition this week.

Townsend played a pivotal role in the Golden Grizzlies 74-60 win over Wright State on Saturday to remain only a game behind the top spot of the Horizon League standings. In the win, Townsend went 9-of-14 (.643) from the field to total a game-high 19 points to go along with his seven boards. Townsend and the Golden Grizzlies put up a valiant effort the game before against Northern Kentucky but fell in overtime, 99-88, as Townsend added 20 points. On the week, Townsend shot 17-of-31 (.548) from the floor with 16 total rebounds and 39 points. He also added one from beyond the arc with six assists, three blocks and three steals.

On its home court, Skorupski sealed the deal in the team's overtime win over Robert Morris (67-65). Tied at 65 apiece, the Golden Grizzlies forced a missed three from the Colonials as Skorupski came down with the defensive board. After a timeout, the Golden Grizzlies had an inbound pass on its end of the floor with 1.6 left on the clock. The sophomore backed down her defender prior to getting the ball and putting it through as the horn sounded for the win. On the week, she totaled 22 points off the bench and shot at a .500 clip with three boards, three assists, a trio of threes and two steals.

Both teams are back in action this week as the men visit Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. ET, while the women are also on the road against Cleveland State Thursday with tip-off slated for 11:00 a.m. ET. The men then return home for a 3:00 p.m. start against IUPUI and look to build on its home win streak.
