Golden Grizzlies baseball to host three fall exhibition contests

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Coming off another trip to Championship Saturday of the Horizon League Tournament in 2023 and welcoming in a trio of new assistant coaches this offseason, Oakland Golden Grizzlies baseball will host three Sunday fall exhibition games.

Beginning at 1 p.m. on October 1, Oakland will welcome in the Team Ontario Astros and this will be followed by tilts with the Macomb Community College Monarchs at 12 p.m. on October 8 and Davenport Panthers at 1 p.m. on October 15.

Macomb Community College belongs to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and Grand Rapids-based Davenport competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) at the NCAA Division II level.

Looking ahead to the 2024 campaign, which will begin in February, the Golden Grizzlies return a trio of All-Horizon League performers a year ago in outfielder Ian Cleary, reliever Brandon Decker and starter Hunter Pidek, as well as third baseman/right-handed pitcher Brandon Nigh, fellow righty Sean Fekete, catcher Brandon Heidal and All-Freshman Team center fielder Reggie Bussey.
