Oakland Will Sharpen Play with Michigan State Showdown

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Tuesday, April 4, Oakland University Softball will take Sacchia Stadium in East Lansing for a matchup with Michigan State at 5:00 pm on Big Ten Network+.

Oakland once again split its doubleheader with Youngstown State last Sunday to go 3-3 in #HLSB play and 7-10 in the overall column. The Golden Grizzlies are 0-1 this year when it comes to Big Ten non-conference opponents after falling to Michigan last Wednesday.

Allisa DiPrima still leads the team in batting average with .359, putting the junior fifth in the league followed by Jen Krizka in seventh with the team's second-best average of .350 and two home runs, most recently as the team's lone run in game two against the Penguins on Sunday.

Reese Ruhlman and Maci Brown follow with .319 averages, respectively, in a tie for eleventh in the #HLSB stats. Ruhlman sits second on the squad in runs batted in with eight along with DiPrima. Krizka has the most on the team with 10.

Madi Herrington still sits fifth in NCAA Division I as one of the toughest batters to strikeout in the nation with only one to her 51 at-bats. At this time, the NCAA has not recalculated division stats following the weekend.

Sydney Campbell has retaken the top spot in the conference with a 1.81 earned run average following her zero earned run outting against YSU on Sunday. Campbell is tied for second in the league with only 17 earned runs and 39 strikeouts.

SYD JUST WINS, WINS, WINS
Redshirt junior pitcher, Sydney Campbell, secured her 49th career win in the circle for Oakland on March 22 in the first half of a doubleheader with IUPUI. Campbell bests Jessica Granger's record set from 2007-2009.

PICKED FIRST… AGAIN!
The Golden Grizzlies are slated to be first in the Horizon League for the 2023 season as voted on by the conference's Head Coaches back on February 8 with eight of the nine first-place votes.

STARTING AT 100
Head Coach Lauren Karn will start the 2023 campaign with 100 wins in her pocket as the all-time winningest head coach in Oakland Softball history. Prior to THE Spring Games on February 24, Karn sits at 100-104 in her five-year career.
