Sampson Signs with Greek A Division Powerhouse FC PAOK Thessaloniki

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Women's Soccer forward Sharon Sampson has signed a professional contract with FC POAK Thessaloniki in the Greek A Division.

"While we are sad to see Sharon leave ahead of schedule, we are excited about this opportunity for her to fulfill a life-long dream and goal of becoming a professional footballer," said Women's Soccer Head Coach Juan Pablo Favero.

Football Club P.A.O.K Thessaloniki (FC POAK Thessaloniki) has won 16 of the last 17 Greek A Division championships since 2006. There are 15 other clubs at that level as FC POAK Thessaloniki plays on the pitch at Toumba Stadium.

"It is hard for any player to overlook these opportunities, and we are sure that the staff at FC PAOK will be happy with their new player," said Favero, "We wish her much success in her professional career."

Sampson previously signed with The Black Princess of Ghana, the national team of the African nation of Ghana where the sophomore was part of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rice back in August. The Black Princess of Ghana was in Group D with Japan, the Netherlands, and the USA.

In the 2022 season, Sampson played in 14 games with a single start with two goals and one assists for a campaign total of five points. Sampson had six shots on goal during that span through 432 minutes of play.
