About Central Michigan
Currently in second place in the MAC, behind only the Ball State Cardinals, the Chippewas, led by fourth-year head coach Jordan Bischel, have won back-to-back regular-season conference championships, making the NCAA Tournament in both of those years.
One of two players to start all 46 games, left-handed-hitting senior second baseman Mario Camilletti, who spent three seasons with the Golden Grizzlies from 2018-20, is Central Michigan's leading hitter at .374 (61-for-163).
Right fielder Jakob Marsee and first baseman Danny Wuestenfeld, both sophomores, have supplied much of the home run power for the Chippewas, tying for the team lead with six.
As a team, Central Michigan has been successful on an impressive 84.8 percent (67-79) of their stolen base attempts, led by Marsee with 15 in 17 tries and switch-hitting junior shortstop Justin Simpson with 14 in 16.
Senior Jake Jones, junior Ryan Palmblad, and sophomores Ryan Insco and Ben Vitas have been go-to options for Bischel out of the bullpen, combining to make 63 relief appearances.
