Chicago, Ill. – Winners of seven of their last eight games, Oakland will look to continue their string of success in a three-game road series against the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Flames from Friday, April 8-Sunday, April 10.
Friday's action will begin at 5:05 p.m., Saturday at 3:05 p.m., and the Sunday finale at 2:05 p.m.
This will be the fourth Horizon League series of the 2022 season for the Golden Grizzlies, who have won their first three conference series for the first time since transitioning to the NCAA Division I level and becoming a full member of the Summit League in 2000.
Overall, Oakland will enter Friday at 14-13, with a 6-3 mark in league play, while the Flames are 7-15 (1-2).
All-time record against UIC
The Golden Grizzlies and Flames have clashed 35 times – all of which have come since Oakland joined the Horizon League in 2014 – with UIC holding a 25-10 edge in the all-time series.
Playing their home games at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium, named after the former Detroit Tigers All-Star center fielder, the Flames won all four meetings in 2021, but the Golden Grizzlies did win two of the six showdowns in 2019.

Nigh having standout freshman season
Riding a seven-game hit streak, freshman third baseman
Brandon Nigh leads the Golden Grizzlies with a .359 (23-64) batting average.
Batting average is just one of the categories the Temperance Bedford product is pacing the squad in, as he also boasts a team-high six home runs, 26 RBI, and .703 slugging percentage.
Goulet also on hit streak
The reigning Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week, graduate student second baseman
Brad Goulet is on a six-game hit streak of his own.
Aside from an 0-5 in the March 26 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, Goulet has hit safely in 10 of Oakland's last 11 games.
The only Golden Grizzly to start all 27 games this season, the Akron Zips transfer has racked up a team-best 34 hits, nine more than his closest teammate, which is redshirt senior right fielder
Brenton Phillips.
Phillips swinging well, too
Speaking of
Brenton Phillips, another ex-Akron Zip, he has at least one hit in seven of his last eight, including four multiple-knock games over that span.
Six of Phillips' nine hits over the last five games have gone for extra bases and he is tied with graduate student left fielder
Cam Post for the team lead in doubles with five.
Over the last eight games, Phillips' hot stretch has raised his batting average from .194 to .263.
