ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Women's Tennis is set to take on a familiar opponent Friday, April 29 in Ann Arbor for the first round of the 2022 Horizon League Women's Tennis Tournament as the Golden Grizzlies will go opposite of the net to the Milwaukee Panthers.

The Golden Grizzlies dropped its match to Milwaukee last Saturday in Wisconsin 3-4 after grabbing the doubles victory while Tegan Heaton squeezed out a 6-4, 6-4 win. Oakland will sit as the No. 5 seed in the tournament while the Panthers took the No. 4 spot. The winner of this match continues to play No. 1 Cleveland State in the semifinals on Saturday.

Liza Mladentseva boasts a 10-6 record in number one doubles after defeating the Horizon League Player of the Year Sunday against UIC. Heaton then holds the next best mark of 9-8 spanning from number four to five singles.

Mladentseva and Jillian Milano are riding an eight-game winning streak (virtual knock on wood) posting an overall 8-1 tab in the two hole while Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel sit at 9-4 at the number one mantel.

On Thursday, Mladentseva was named to the All-Horizon League First Team list in addition to being named Co-Freshman of the Year in her first season in a Golden Grizzlies uniform. Milano received her second Horizon League All-Academic honor as announced on Tuesday.

MILWAUKEE

The Panthers' Mayya Perova was added to the All-Horizon League First Team list after concluding the 2022 regular season with a 16-5 mark in No. 1-2 singles and a 4-3 record at number two doubles.

The best duo for Milwaukee continues to be Iva Stejskalova and Carbone Greta at 11-7 overall at the number one doubles position.
