CAIN NAMED 2021-22 LOU HENSON ALL-AMERICA STUDENT-ATHLETE

BOSTON, Mass. – Oakland University Men's Basketball grad student Jamal Cain was named to the 2021-22 Lou Henson All-America team announced on Monday.

The Lou Henson Award is bestowed to "the top mid-major player in division I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons". 

A total of 40 players made the list with three Horizon League athletes making the prestigious listing as Cain finished the 2021-22 campaign with an average of 19.9 points and 10.2 rebounds as the only Horizon League player to average a double double while scoring a career-high 32 points against Detroit Mercy on February 13. 

Cain was also the only player this past season to break the 20-20 game barrier in the win over Green Bay on January 22 with 26 points and 21 rebounds. The Pontiac native was tied for 15th nationally in double doubles with 16, 12th in rebounds per game, and 19th in defensive rebounds per game.

This award also serves as finalists for the Lou Henson Award.
