OAKLAND SET TO PLAY AT EASTERN MICHIGAN ON TUESDAY

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland will play at Eastern Michigan University at 3 p.m. on March 22 instead of playing their scheduled game at Bowling Green. 

After defeating Wright State 2-1 this past weekend, Oakland holds a 6-11 overall record and 2-1 conference record. EMU is 5-11 overall and 1-3 for their conference. 

Oakland is 7-3 in their last ten matchups against EMU. Freshman Brandon Nigh leads the team in batting average (.324), while Seth Tucker leads in runs (15) and Brad Goulet has the most hits (19).

MAKING HISTORY
Oakland defeated Wright State 2-1 to win their first series against the Raiders in program history. Oakland also handed Wright State their first home series loss since 2013.

OAKLAND STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Oakland baseball has had two players earn Oakland Student-Athlete of the Week this season. 

Brandon Nigh - March 21
In Oakland's first series win over Wright State in program history, Nigh led for the team going 7-11 at the plate with two doubles, two homers, and seven RBI. While he leads the team in batting average, as of March 15 the freshman was also ranked fifth in the league in slugging percentage and on base + slugging percentage, sixth in batting average, and ninth in on base percentage. Nigh also pitched one inning in game two to top off his performance, allowing only one hit and no runs. 

Ian Cleary - March 8
In the four-game series against Marshall University, Cleary added his name to the Oakland University baseball record book as he tied for first in most home runs in a game after he hit three out of the park in the third game of the series. The record Cleary tied had previously been set in 2004. Cleary also had a grand slam home run in the first game of the doubleheader, earning him four home runs for the day. The junior tallied nine RBI, five runs, and four hits during the Saturday doubleheader, going 4-6 at the plate.
