Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Oakland tennis team earned its first win of the spring campaign, in a commanding 6-1 victory over Bethune-Cookman University Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday's win marked the fourth-straight over the Wildcats.
The Golden Grizzlies started off strong by earning the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Oakland wasn't able to pull out the win in the no. 1 singles slot, but secured victories in two through five.
After earning the 6-2 doubles win with partner
Nirva Patel,
Yasmin Glazbrook earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at the no. 2 spot.
Redshirt senior
Jillian Milano took home the victory in no. 3 singles (6-1, 6-2), while freshman
Tegan Heaton won in commanding fashion (6-0, 6-0).
Mia Melnizki and
Emma Hultqvist won by default, earning the final two points for the Golden Grizzlies.
Oakland will continue competition tomorrow against University of Mary at 3 p.m. from the USTA Center in Orlando.
