BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Oakland rallied for game two of a three-game series against CSU Bakersfield, finishing 10-6 with the first home run of the season from Brenton Phillips.
Phillips opened things up for the Golden Grizzlies with a home run to left field to tie things 1-1 in the second inning, giving them confidence heading into the third, where they quickly tallied a five-run inning.
Transfer Chas Sagedahl opened for Oakland on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing six hits and five runs before Brett Hagen came in for another three innings. Hagen allowed only one hit and one run.
Luke Malmanger had a lead-off single to left field in his season debut and scored after three consecutive walks. Back-to-back singles to shortstop by Michael Stygles and Cam Post brought scores from Seth Tucker and Gabe Lux. Brandon Heidal hit a single to right field, bringing him two RBIs as Stygles and Brad Goulet crossed the plate.
Heidal singled to center field before stealing to second, setting up Malmanger for an RBI single to center field to bring Heidal home.
Goulet added another run in the seventh before Gabe Lux finished things for the Golden Grizzlies with a final run in the ninth inning.
Oakland outhit CSU 9-8 and will conclude their series at 4:05 p.m. ET today.
