BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Oakland defeated CSU Bakersfield 7-0 on Sunday afternoon to take their first series win of the year.
Oakland was led by pitcher Jacob Wosinski who had a shutout through five innings, totaling five strikeouts and allowing only four hits.
After remaining scoreless until the fifth inning, Seth Tucker singled to left field, bringing Liam Pollock home for a RBI. Michael Stygles scored off an RBI single to left field from Brenton Phillips in the sixth.
Brad Goulet opened the seventh inning with a ball up the middle for a base hit, sending Gabe Lux home. Cam Post's grounder to short sent Tucker across home plate and Goulet to third, though two Golden Grizzlies were out on the play. Goulet then scored off of a wild pitch, bringing the score to 5-0.
Goulet had another nice hit to center field in the eighth inning, sending Ian Cleary home for an RBI and advancing Lux to third. Lux then scored off an RBI from Cam post, finalizing the score for the night.
Travis Densmore relieved Wosinski, pitching three innings and striking out three of the 10 batters faced before newcomer Chase Keeney pitched the ninth.
Oakland will head to New Mexico State University for another three-game series from Feb. 25-27.
