LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Oakland opened the weekend series against NM State with a 13-7 setback in game one.
Bryce Konitzer started on the mound for Oakland, pitching two innings, allowing four hits and two runs before Travis Densmore came in for relief.
After being down 12-0 through five innings, Brad Goulet opened things up for the Golden Grizzlies with a home run to left field, scoring Gabe Lux.
Brenton Phillips scored off an RBI from Brandon Nigh in the top of the seventh, leaving the bases still loaded.Adding another to the scoreboard, Seth Tucker singled off a fielder's choice, bringing Liam Pollock home for a RBI.
Oakland did not slow down in the eighth. Phillips hit a two RBI single, scoring Michael Stygles and Goulet.
Jared Miller singled to right field to bring Cam Post home for the final Oakland run of the game.
This afternoon, Oakland faces NM State for a rematch at 4 p.m. ET.
