GOULET STRINGS TOGETHER 3 HITS IN OAKLAND'S LOSS TO NEW MEXICO STATE

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Senior Brad Goulet strung together three hits, but the Oakland Golden Grizzlies fell to the New Mexico State Aggies 6-2 Saturday.

Sophomore Chas Sagedahl (0-2) got the ball to start for Oakland (2-3) and took the loss. Brett Hagen was a bright spot for the Golden Grizzlies, coming out of the bullpen and throwing five innings, giving up one run on three hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Goulet's three-hit day led the Golden Grizzlies offensively. Michael Stygles put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. Seth Tucker also helped out for Oakland, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 4-0, the Golden Grizzlies first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Oakland got an RBI single from Tucker, scoring Jared Miller from second base.

The Golden Grizzlies deficit grew to 5-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Oakland scored once on a run-scoring single off the bat of Goulet, which tightened the Aggies lead to 5-2. The Golden Grizzlies were unable to get any closer, as New Mexico State added one run to their tally on the way to a 6-2 final.
