BOSTON, Mass. – Oakland University Men's Basketball student-athlete
Trey Townsend was named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List announced by the organization on Tuesday.
According to the committee, the Lou Henson Award is, "presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons."
Townsend follows Jamal Cain and current teammate Jalen Moore as Golden Grizzlies on the distinguished list the past two seasons. The Oxford native currently leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game with the best field goal percentage in the Horizon League at 62.5% (40-64).
The junior is second on the team in rebounds with 6.8 per game, securing his first double-double of the season against Toledo, a game in which he scored 30 points as the first Oakland player to do so since Jamal Cain against Alabama in November of 2021.
Townsend is one of four total #HLMBB student-athletes on the list.
