Women Return From Western Michigan With Success

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland women's tennis team closed it out in Kalamazoo with a successful turnout from the Western Michigan University Super Challenge resulting in 11-7 overall record in singles and 7-2 in doubles for the weekend. 

Yasmin Glazbrook tallied 6-0 during the course of her time on the court as she dominated doubles combined with teammate Nirva Patel to sweep Milwaukee (6-1) and onto Cleveland State (7-5) and back to Milwaukee (7-5). Not only this but the Australian native roped in three more singles victories behind the net for the Golden Grizzlies as she defeated individuals from Northern Illinois (7-5 (4), 6-4), Cleveland State (7-6, (6), 6-2), and Notre Dame (6-1, 6-4). 

Patel came out of the challenge with a 5-1 finish in her overall performances this weekend. Along with her combined double's success with Glazbrook by her side, she racked up two more singles matches resulting in impressive wins over Milwaukee (6-4, 3-6, 10-7), and Northern Illinois (5-2).

Jillian Milano met Glazbrook's weekend total as she also went 6-0 in Kalamazoo behind her remarkable racket work putting her ahead of her competition with wins from double's matchup paired with teammate Tegan Heaton over Wayne State (6-2), Milwaukee (6-4), and lastly back to Wayne State (6-4) to round it out. 

Heaton put in the work on the court alongside her double's teammate Milano to secure three match victories and to top that off she then secured a single's win over Wayne State (7-6 (6), 6-7 (4), 10-5 to record a weekend overall total of 4-2 for her performances. 

Emma Hultqvist and Tara Montreuil put up a double's show as they continued the energetic momentum for Oakland and defeated Wayne State (6-4). Notably, Hultqvist, claimed her individual single's victory over Wayne State (6-7 (4), 7-5, 10-8), and Montreuil gave a fight for Eastern Michigan taking the singles title for that match (6-1, 6-1). 

This concludes the fall season for the 2022-23 year. The Golden Grizzlies continue with training to prepare themselves for the next matchup in February against Western Michigan yet again to kick off the spring season.
