Women's Tennis Round Out the Fall Season in Kalamazoo

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland Women's Tennis team races off to Kalamazoo to compete in the Western Michigan Invitational from November 11-13.

The Golden Grizzlies have recorded successes from the fall season after competing in both the Spartan Invite and the Ball State Invite over the course of the beautiful Michigan fall.

Jillian Milano, Tegan Heaton, Mia Melnizki, Tara Montreuil all secured singles wins early on to add to the score sheet for the opening months of the 2022-23 season. On the flip side, securing strong doubles wins during their East Lansing field trip includes pairs Aimee Brown and Heaton, Melnizki and Montreuil, and Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel.

Notably, at Ball State, Milano and Heaton paired up for a doubles win, alongside teammates Hultqvist and Melnizki also sealing a doubles victory in their matchups in late September.

Oakland continues with one last fall season go-around in Western Michigan looking to build off their successes so far.

This will conclude the fall season for the Golden Grizzlies women's tennis team as we await the anticipated spring season in February 2023.

SCOUTING REPORT

The Western Michigan Invite consists of an eight-team round up including Western Michigan, Cleveland State, UW - Milwaukee, Wayne State, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, and Notre Dame. The invitational will take place on the Sorenson Courts on the Western Michigan campus in Kalamazoo.
