Men's soccer begins three-match homestand with Saturday Homecoming tilt against Wright State

The Golden Grizzlies are currently fourth in the Horizon League at 2-7-3 (2-1-2)

ROCHESTER, Mich. – In what will be their first home match in two weeks, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will square off with the Wright State Raiders in their Homecoming contest on Saturday, October 15 at 1 p.m.

Playing the Green Bay Phoenix to a scoreless draw their last time out on Wednesday, October 12, Oakland enters play in fourth place in the Horizon League with a 2-7-3 (2-1-2) record, good for eight points. The Raiders are the second-best team in the conference with 14 points, currently standing at 4-3-4 (4-0-2).

Wright State was picked by the league's 10 head coaches to finish fourth in August's Preseason Poll, but head coach Jake Slemker's group has exceeded expectations to this point, thus far avoiding a loss in conference play.

All-time series and last meeting
Dating to September 29, 2002, the Golden Grizzlies have clashed with the Raiders a total of 16 times, with Oakland winning eight, Wright State five, and three ending in a draw.

In the last meeting between these two programs, which came just under a year ago on October 16, 2021, the Golden Grizzlies topped the host Raiders, 3-2, at Alumni Field in Dayton, Ohio.

Scouting Wright State
Allowing the same number of goals as they have scored (15) through their first 11 matches, the Raiders have the fourth-best offense in the Horizon League at 1.364 goals-per-match.

Tied for the team lead with three goals, senior forward Joe Kouadio paces Wright State's offense with eight points, one ahead of junior Reece Allbaugh and fifth-year senior Nico Likulia.

Starting all but one match, goalkeeper Sebastian Jimenez, another fifth-year student, has tallied 44 saves and three shutouts this season.
