
NILES, Ohio - Cam Post hit 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk while
Brenton Phillips went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs, and a walk as Oakland dropped the series finale 18-6 at Youngstown State on Sunday.
Michael Stygles also went 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and walk.
Reagan Paulina hit 1-for-4. with 2 runs and walk. For the game, Oakland drew 10 walks and also left 10 men stranded.
Trailing 11-0 in the fourth inning,
Blake Griffith connected on a pinch-hit sacrifice fly scoring Phillips putting Oakland (9-22, 3-17 HL) on the board.
The Golden Grizzlies' offense got back to work, cutting into the YSU (22-17, 17-11 HL) lead in the fifth with three runs off an RBI single from Phillips followed by a two-run single from Post for a 12-4 deficit.
The Penguins blew the game open in the seventh inning with six runs to take a commanding 18-4 lead.
Paulina scored on a wild pitch in the eighth. Oakland then got the bases loaded off three walks in the top of the ninth followed by Stygles who drew a walk to plate a run with two outs. However, the Golden Grizzlies left the bases loaded to end the game.
Oakland continues its road swing with a four-game set at Milwaukee beginning on Friday, Apr. 30 at 5 p.m. ET.
