
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Reagan Paulina hit his second home run of the season,
Drew Collins posted his first career triple while
Tyler Trovinger and
Michael Stygles each recorded three hits as Oakland fell 15-2 and 8-5 to Milwaukee in the series-opening doubleheader on Friday.
Josh Dudden also recorded a two-run single.
Trailing 10-0 in the third inning in game one, Oakland (8-17, 2-12 Hl) scratched across a run off Milwaukee (9-12, 9-5 HL) pitcher Riley Frey when Collins tripled in
Austin Higgins.
Paulina's solo shot with two outs followed in the fourth inning giving the Golden Grizzlies their second run of the game. However, they were unable to get any closer, as Milwaukee added five runs to their tally on the way to a 15-2 final.
In the nightcap, Stygles led the 12-hit barrage for the Golden Grizzlies, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Dudden hit 1-for-5 with two RBI,
Brenton Phillips went 2-for-5 with a double while Trovinger and
Cam Post also hit 2-for-5.
Jared Miller also had two hits going 2-for-4.
The Golden Grizzlies got the scoring started early in the first off an RBI single from Stygles scoring Post from second base.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the third before the Golden Grizzlies got back on the board in the bottom half with three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Dudden, which moved Oakland back ahead at 4-2.
Milwaukee added four runs in the sixth to take a 7-4 advantage. Oakland cut the deficit to 7-5 as Trovinger scored off an error in the seventh but the Golden Grizzlies could not scratch across any additional runs in the final two innings.
Both teams will conclude the four-game series with a second doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 3 starting at 1 p.m.
