SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
Green Bay is off to an impressive 14-8 start to the 2021 season. The Phoenix split their opening Horizon League series to Northern Kentucky but bounced back with series wins over Robert Morris and preseason favorite UIC. To add, the Phoenix boast multiple victories against Chattanooga and Evansville.

Freshman catcher Samantha Saloun has batted .386 with seven doubles, one home run, and 13 RBI in 20 starts. She leads the team in several categories such as extra-base hits, on-base percentage (.478), slugging percentage (.561), and OPS (1.039). Reigning Horizon League Player of the Week Tiffany Giese has slashed .358/.375/.453 in 20 starts. The pitching duo of Brittany Bank and Kayla Schwebke has combined for 13 complete games, 12 wins, and three shutouts. Both pitchers have an ERA below 3.00.

ALL-TIME VS. GREEN BAY
The Golden Grizzlies hold an 11-4 advantage in the all-time series. Oakland won five-straight games over the Phoenix from April 2017 to May 2018. OU last faced Green Bay in its final home series of the 2019 season, where they took two out of three games.

WEEKEND RECAP
Last weekend, Oakland endured its first Horizon League series loss of the season at Robert Morris. The Golden Grizzlies routed the Colonials in the series opener with a 10-1 victory but dropped the following three games. Two of the three losses were decided by one run. RMU limited the OU offense to five runs in the three-game span.

RECORD WATCH
Senior shortstop Jamie Squires sits third in program history with 91 RBI. She has an opportunity to break the record against Green Bay, as current graduate assistant Brittney Miller is the program leader in career RBI with 97. Squires and redshirt junior third baseman Madison Jones are tied for second in school history with 18 career home runs. Sarah Hartley ('16 alum) ranks first in the category with 20 career longballs. Jones is also tied for fourth in school history with nine triples. Jones' next triple will move her into a tie for third place with Cammie Knorr ('06 alum, 10 triples).

CONFERENCE STANDINGS
The Golden Grizzlies are tied with UIC for third place in the Horizon League standings at 7-5. Youngstown State leads the HL with a 7-3 record, while GB is second at 9-5. The top four seeds after the regular season will advance to the 2021 Horizon League Softball Championship from May 13-15. The No. 1 seed will host the entirety of the tournament.

OFFENSIVE EXCELLENCE
In conference-only action, OU holds top-three HL marks in batting average (.291, 3rd), home runs (10, 3rd), RBI (55, 3rd), slugging percentage (.459, 2nd), runs (73, 2nd), hits (104, 2nd), and stolen bases (13, 3rd). Through 12 conference games, the Golden Grizzlies have scored five or more runs seven times.

GETTING IT DONE ON DEFENSE

The Harrison Township, Mich., native recorded an RBI in three-straight games to open the series as well.
