
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Seth Tucker went 2-for-3 with a double scoring both of Oakland runs while
Josh Dudden and
Brandon Heidal each recorded a hit as the Golden Grizzlies held a 2-1 lead heading into the ninth inning but could not hold on as UIC added four runs en route to a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon.
Bryce Konitzer (1-1) came out of the bullpen for Oakland (8-15, 2-10 HL) going 7.0 innings with six strikeouts to pick up his first loss on the season.
Jacob Wosinski started the ballgame throwing two innings, giving up one run on one hit, with no walks and one strikeout.
Trailing 1-0 in the third inning,
Brenton Phillips reached on an error which allowed Tucker to score tying the game at 1-1.
Tucker then scored again from third off a throwing error on a failed pick-off attempt giving Oakland a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning.
However, the Golden Grizzlies were unable to hold the lead as UIC (7-11, 6-6 HL) scored four runs on three hits in the top of the ninth to take a 5-2 lead.
Oakland got runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth but grounded into a double play to end the game.
The Golden Grizzlies continue their home stand against Milwaukee on Thursday, Apr. 1 at 2 p.m.
