
ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland women's tennis team travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. for a dual match at Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 6 at 1 p.m. at the Chippewa Racquet Club.

- Oakland is 5-4 overall after concluding their Florida road swing at 2-2 mark with wins over Bethune-Cookman (7-0) and Florida A&M (6-1) and setbacks at Stetson (4-3) and FAU (7-0).

Ava Thielman was named the Nike® Horizon League Singles Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday. Thielman went 3-1 at the No. 1 singles position helping Oakland to a 2-2 road swing mark with 7-0 wins over Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. Her three wins all came in straight sets beginning with Bethune-Cookman's Afrika Smith (6-0, 6-2) followed by defeating Stetson's Danel Ashirova (6-4, 6-3) in the Golden Grizzlies hard fought 4-3 setback to the Hatters. Thielman's third win came over Florida A&M's Haleigh Porter (6-0, 6-2).
- EMU is the fourth school from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Oakland has played this season so far. The Golden Grizzlies are 2-2 against MAC opponents after dropping a hard fought 4-3 decision to Western Michigan (1/18), the Golden Grizzlies responded with a 5-2 road win over Akron (1/26) and 6-1 (2/9) home victory against Toledo. Oakland dropped a 7-0 decision at Ball State (2/16).
