CINCINNATI, Ohio - Oakland University men's basketball concludes its weekend road trip with Wright State on Saturday, February 8. Tipoff from the Nutter Center is set for 7 pm on ESPN+.

Sophomore guard Rashad Williams is coming off a career-high eight triples at Northern Kentucky on Thursday night. Williams is the first Golden Grizzly to knock down eight three-pointers since Kendrick Nunn hit eight at Detroit on Jan. 20, 2018. Williams is averaging 35.5 points per game in the last two outings, going 15-of-31 from beyond the arc.

Last time out, the Golden Grizzlies dropped its ninth one-possession game of the season, stumbling late to Northern Kentucky, 73-70. Oakland had the ball with 10 seconds to play, trailing 71-70, but a turnover under the basket would be the deciding factor.

Senior center Brad Brechting extended his double-digit streak to six games, as senior forward Xavier Hill-Mais finished with his six double-double of the season. Hill-Mais entered the weekend leading the Horizon League with a 51-percent field goal percentage.

Since Williams was granted his waiver on Jan. 16, Oakland's scoring average has gone up 5.8 ppg. For the first time this season, the Golden Grizzlies have scored 70 or more points in three-straight outings.

The Raiders raced out to a double-digit lead on Thursday night against Detroit, scoring 19 of the game's first 22 points, and withstood a second half Titan run before settling on a 98-86 final score inside the Nutter Center to become the first team in the Horizon League to reach the 20-win mark this season as five Raiders scored in double figures. The victory improved Wright State to 20-5 overall with a 10-2 mark in HL play and gave head coach Scott Nagy his fourth straight season with 20-plus wins in his four years at Wright State.

Williams knocked down 7-of-16 from beyond the arc, matching his career high for three-point field goals in a game originally set on December 16, 2018, at Illinois State. Fourteen of Williams' 37 came from the foul line en route to becoming the first Golden Grizzly to score 30 or more points since senior center Brad Brechting put up 32 against Youngstown State in the O'rena on February 1, 2019.
  • Xavier Hill-Mais is one of 10 Horizon League seniors named to the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship Midseason Watch List, announced on Tuesday, February 4. The Greensboro, North Carolina, native has scored in double figures in 23 of 24 games this season - highlighted by six double-doubles - most recently at Northern Kentucky on Feb. 6. For the first time in his career, he has recorded back-to-back 30+ point efforts. The Detroit native ranks second all-time in Cleveland State single-season history with 91 three-pointers a year ago. Williams is the first Golden Grizzly since Kendrick Nunn to hit eight triples in a game - 8 by Kendrick Nunn at Detroit Mercy in Calihan Hall (1/20/18).
  • Since Williams was granted his waiver, Oakland's scoring has gone up 5.8 ppg. For the first time this season, the Golden Grizzlies have scored 70 or more points in three-straight outings.
