ROCHESTER, Michigan - The Oakland University softball team continues its southern tour with a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the Spartan Classic at UNC Greensboro. The Golden Grizzlies will play a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. 

Oakland (6-3) opens the weekend with Dayton on Friday, February 28, at 2 pm. The Golden Grizzlies will take on Appalachian State following the contest with the Flyers. 

On Saturday, Oakland squares off once again with the Mountaineers before matching up with the weekend's host, UNC Greensboro. 

Redshirt sophomore Madison Jones is fresh off her Horizon League Nike #HLSB Player of the Week plaudits. Jones recorded eight hits - three for extra bases - and 10 RBI at the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, last week.  

Jones' weekend was highlighted by a 3-of-5 performance against Villanova. She exploded for two home runs, bringing around a total of seven runners to score. In the bottom of the seventh, score even at 12-12, she connected for a two-run, walk-off shot. 

Freshman Sydney Campbell threw her third and fourth complete games last time out, moving to 4-0 on the season with a save. The freshman has a team high 30 strikeouts in 35 innings of work. At the Citrus Classic, Campbell went 2-0 with wins over Clemson and Stetson. In 19.2 innings of work last week, Campbell struck out 19 batters and finished with an ERA of 1.42.

Redshirt sophomore Cammie Brummitt's first home run of the year was the difference in Oakland University softball's 3-2 victory over Stetson on Sunday, February 23. Brummitt's lone hit of the day was a solo shot to centerfield in the sixth. The redshirt sophomore leads the team after nine games with 13 hits.
