ORLANDO – Former Oakland men's basketball standout, and current Miami Heat guard,
Kendrick Nunn made his NBA Finals debut recording 18 points and five rebounds Wednesday night.
Nunn went 8-of-11 (73 percent) from the floor and shot 50 percent from 3-point range (2-of-4). The rookie also dished out two assists.
Nunn, the 2018 Horizon League Player of the Year, finished runner-up in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting behind Ja Morant, but in front of the first overall selection in this year's draft Zion Williamson. During the regular season, the former Golden Grizzlies standout played in 67 games, all in the starting lineup, averaging 15.3 points per game in 29 minutes of action, while shooting 44 percent from the floor. He also chipped in 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
The Heat dropped game one against the Lakers, 116-98. Game two of the finals is set for Friday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
