ROCHESTER, Michigan - The Oakland University men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, January 3, against Horizon League foe Wright State. Tipoff is set for 7 pm in the Athletics Center O'rena and will be aired on ESPNU.
Senior forward Xavier Hill-Mais paces the Golden Grizzlies as league play heads continues with 15.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Hill-Mais has recorded four double-doubles this season to lead the Horizon League.
Sophomore Tray Maddox Jr. and freshman Blake Lampman have been Oakland's primary threats from beyond the arc. Maddox has hit a triple in seven-straight outings, while Lampman leads the team with 24 made three-pointers this season. Lampman was named the Nike #HLMBB Freshman of the Week after hitting four from deep and dishing out five helpers against Detroit Mercy on Dec. 28.
Wright State comes into the matchup as the highest ranked Horizon League program in the most recent NET Rankings. The Raiders are putting up just over 81 points per game and have four players averaging in double digits.

- Freshman guard Blake Lampman was named the Freshman of the Week by the Horizon League on December 31. In the Golden Grizzlies' lone outing last week, Lampman finished with 12 points and a career-high five assists. Heading into the matchup with #MetroSeries rival Detroit Mercy, the Haslett, Michigan, native had been struggling from beyond the arc, going 1-of-15 over the previous two outings. Against the Titans, Lampman found his shot early, finishing the game 4-of-9. Lampman leads Oakland with 24 made triples on the year.
- Oakland sits first in the Horizon League in defense, only allowing a league-best 65.1 points per game. The Golden Grizzlies held #16/15 MSU seven points below its season average, allowing just one Spartan to hit double-figures. Oakland has held opponents to under 60 points four times this season.
- The Golden Grizzlies have been a force on the glass, outrebounding their opponents in nine of 14 outings this season. Oakland holds a margin of +3.3. The Golden Grizzlies rank third in the league in rebounding.
- The Golden Grizzlies are the fourth-highest ranked Horizon team in the most updated NET rankings. The NET relies on game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency, and the quality of wins and losses. Wright State (111), Northern Kentucky (138) and Green Bay (182) are the league foes in front of Oakland (213).
