MALIBU, Calif. – Ava Thielman and Cleveland State's Nico Mostardi became the first Horizon League duo to pick up a win at the Oracle ITA Masters Thursday in the first round of the main doubles bracket.

The tandem picked up a 6-3 win over South Alabama's Louic Cloes and North Carolina's Sara Daavettila.

Thielman and Mostardi dropped a tough 6-4 match in the second round to Jack Lin (Columbia) and Iuliia Bryzgalova (Penn).

In singles action, Thielman fell 6-4, 6-1 to Jessica Livianu (St. John's) and will compete in the consolation draw on Friday.
