KAMPE BRINGS COLLEGE BASKETBALL'S ELITE TOGETHER FOR COACHES BEAT CANCER EVENT

Greg Kampe and some of college basketball's top names visited pediatric patients on Monday

ROYAL OAK, Mich. -- Oakland University Head Men's Basketball Coach Greg Kampe, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, visited pediatric cancer patients with nine other elite names in college basketball Monday at Beaumont Hospital. The visit was part of Kampe's Coaches Beat Cancer event.

Coaches Beat Cancer, presented by the Ken & Kathy McCarter Foundation, brings together notable individuals in an exclusive experience for 10 winning bidders and their guests, including a VIP dinner, a stay at MotorCity Casino Hotel and a day of golf at Oakland Hills Country Club. Kampe announced the event has now raised over $500,000 since its inception.  

In addition to Kampe, nine others joined the event which included: Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Lon Kruger (Oklahoma), Nate Oats (Alabama), Frank Martin (South Carolina), Bill Raftery (CBS Sports), Dan Majerle (Grand Canyon), Bryce Drew (former Vanderbilt coach) and Homer Drew (former Valparaiso coach).

The 10 individuals were given a tour of the facilities by some of the young cancer patients and survivors, plus signed autographs and took pictures. This is the third Coaches Beat Cancer event Kampe has helped host with the American Cancer Society.
