
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Softball Team will host the University of Toledo for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 2 & 4 p.m. on the Oakland Softball Field.
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a huge series win against UIC where Haley Bartholomew and
Lauryn Debono each picked up wins against the 2018 defending champions, Debono pitching a complete game shutout.
Last season, Oakland dropped their doubleheader against the Rockets by scores of 1-0 and 2-1.
Notes
- Haley Bartholomew became the first Horizon League pitcher to take down the UIC Flames in conference play this season, ending their perfect 7-0 record. Lauryn Debono followed up in game two with a win of her own, thanks to a complete game shutout.
- Kelsie Swanson is dominating in conference play, hitting a consistent .457 with 16 hits in 35 at bats. She has also scored 12 runs and has a slugging percentage of .686.
- Swanson also leads her team in hits with 36
- Brittney Miller continues to lead her team, as she has all season in batting average with .384, good for fourth in the league.
- Oakland as a team now leads the conference in batting average with a combined .302, overtaking the former leaders, UIC. The team also leads in hits (255) as well as triples (9).
- The Rockets played top-5 Florida State at the beginning of March losing by only a score of 5-4.
- After their series win over UIC, Oakland has moved into seventh place in the Horizon League standings.
